About Tyler
For two years, my dog Chief and I have been living on a sailboat in New England, I couldn’t imagine another way to live. Right around the time I started sailing, I also happen to stumble upon a bamboo flute. Now my cabin is littered with bamboo flutes, panpipes, and pennywhistles.
Flute making didn’t come long after flute playing. It was immediately something I wanted to learn, and to my surprise it was an easy concept to grasp. I quickly began to realize the relationship between hole size and placement, as well as length and diameter of bamboo. Making flutes was something I fell in love with right away, because of the ability to make a professional musical instrument, with perfect key, out of a stick. It’s so rewarding to play a flute moments after it’s birth! It is a perfect balance of simplicity and complexity, of art and of structure.
My goal behind anything that I’m passionate about, is to inspire other people. I hope that through this site I can inspire people about Bamboo flutes, or any musical instrument for the matter. Music has enriched my life on so many levels, and I really want to share that with people.
